Louisiana’s Gaming Commission approved the sale of the abandoned Diamond Jacks Casino in Bossier City to Foundation Gaming, a Mississippi-based gaming company. The new owners plan to open the Shreveport-Bossier City area’s first land-based Casino by December 2024 with a nearly $200 million renovation. Foundations chief operations and marketing operator Les McMackin said the property is set to undergo extensive renovations.
“As you can imagine, the building that was built in 1994 and now has been vacant for the last two years, it’s going to require a lot of the infrastructure to be replaced, repaired, or to just start over again with that.”
The company plans to re-brand the 26-acre property with a new name which has yet to be revealed. McMackin said plans for the project feature new construction of a 47,000 square foot casino, renovation of the 405-room hotel, at least three new restaurants and renovations of the pool and spa, and more.
“That’ll include the sports wagering, the live entertainment events center that will have a capacity of around 300 seats, we’ll have a VIP lounge, we’ll have over a thousand slots, fifty tables, both electronic and live.”
Foundation hopes to provide a fresh, customer friendly experience in what they believe to be a great project for the Bossier City market and community. McMackin said the company needs to provide something new and different into the market.
“Customers really enjoy having a lot of space to mingle and be around, so our goal is to make a very open and inviting gaming space for customers coming into the property.”
