Louisiana State Parks are offering special holiday events at the parks. State Parks director Brandon Burris says all of the parks have added holiday features.
“We’ll have Christmas things such as sleighs and reindeer staged throughout our state parks so you can go and use those things to go and take your Christmas pictures,” he said.
There are 38 state parks, historic sites, and preservation areas. He says Santa is making appearances throughout the park system. Oakley House at Audubon Historic site near St. Francisville is conducting ongoing guided tours and more.
“There’s blacksmithing and Christmas celebrations going on at Oakley, just tons and tons of Christmas celebrations going on,” Burris said.
Tomorrow there’s a Christmas celebration at Fort Jesup Historic Site at Many from 10 am to 3 pm, and a make-your-own ornament event at Fort St. John Baptiste Historic Site at Natchitoches from 1 to 3 pm.
Burris said the parks system is offering a special four nights for the price of three through the end of the month. The promo code is kickoff2022. In addition, for those who want to give a non-traditional gift, the parks system is offering gift cards.
“So many people now are looking for experiences to give versus giving an actual present or something that you can put your hands on,” Burris said.
