The nation’s number one prospect according to Rivals.com is officially an LSU Tiger on the first day of college football’s early signing period. Derek Stingley Jr. signed his national letter of intent in front of classmates at Dunham High School.
“I hope you still support me when I go to LSU for the next three to four years, Go Tigers,” said Stingley Jr. as the student body cheered his decision.
Stingley has 27 career interceptions during his prep career and the Baton Rouge product wants to bring a title to his hometown.
“We are going to win a championship, with the 2019 Class and the 2020 Class is starting to look really good too,” said Stingley Jr.
Based on who signed with LSU Wednesday and who might possibly sign in February, the Tigers could land a top 5 recruiting class.
Stingley says he chose LSU, because it will benefit him after his playing days are over.
“LSU is the place to be, LSU is like a home, it’s not a four-year program, it’s a 40-year program, so with that being said, if you come here, you can do anything you want, job wise after football,” said Stingley Jr.
