State Police is investigating an officer-involved shooting that took place at an apartment complex in Shreveport on Friday night (February 3.) The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased male as 43-year-old Alonzo Bagley. Shreveport City Councilwoman Tabatha Taylor says the incident occurred in her district.
“We review all of the facts and as they become available we are committed to learning from this case to insure the safety and well-being of everyone in our community,” said Taylor.
Authorities have released very few details. Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith promises a thorough investigation.
“The facts without a doubt will be uncovered and revealed and whatever action that needs to be taken to do our very best to make sure it doesn’t happen again will take place,” said Smith.
No Shreveport Police officers were injured during the incident. Smith says his heart goes out to the Bagley family.
“My heart bleeds and I mourn also with them with the loss of another life here in Shreveport,” said Smith.
Smith announced on Monday afternoon that 23-year-old officer Alexander Tyler has been put on administrative leave as a result of Friday’s fatal shooting.
