LSU says its women’s national basketball team will go to the White House, despite some hurt feelings from a statement made by First Lady Jill Biden.
Following LSU’s historic win over Iowa in the national title game, the First Lady suggested the Hawkeyes should also get an invite to the White House. Star forward Angel Reese felt disrespected by that comment and said in a podcast the Lady Tigers should go visit Former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama instead.
But the President is only inviting LSU and the school says it will accept the invitation. According to the White House, the invitation was made Friday when President Biden called Coach Kim Mulkey and Reese to congratulate them on their championship.
In an interview on ESPN’s Sportscenter, Reese said she’s a team player and she’ll be with her teammates when they go to the nation’s capital.
A trip to D.C. hasn’t been finalized yet.
