43-year-old Hannah Landon of Harahan has been arrested and charged in the death of her boyfriend’s six-year-old daughter. The father reported Bella Fontenelle missing Wednesday morning and she was later found inside a 10-gallon bucket on her mother’s lawn. Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joe Lopinto said Tuesday evening video footage from the neighborhood led them to arrest Landon.
“Which showed her pulling a wagon with the bucket inside the back of that wagon,” said Lopinto.
Landon was located at the hospital Wednesday afternoon and is charged with first-degree murder and obstruction of justice.
Harahan Police Chief Ed LePre said the small town is shocked and saddened by the news.
“My heart and my prayers go out to the family. This is a senseless type incident that happened, but I can assure you that Harahan Police Department and the Sheriff’s Office are there for the family,” said LePre.
Lopinto said the child’s father and mother are not considered suspects in the case and they believe the child was killed at the father’s home Tuesday evening and then taken to the mother’s home within walking distance by Landon. Jefferson Parish Coroner Dr. Jerry Cvitanovich said the manner of death is homicide.
“She has multiple injuries and I’m not going to get into details regarding the injuries because this is still a fluid investigation,” said Cvitanovich.
Lopinto said the suspect lives with the victim’s father and the child’s mother lives in the same neighborhood one street over.
