Mother’s Day is Sunday and it’s the most popular day of the year for restaurants. Louisiana Restaurant Association spokesperson Wendy Waren said about 80 million people will take their mom’s out to eat for their special day in the US this year. And if you’re looking to avoid the crowds, she has some suggestions.
“Maybe treat mom to dinner on Friday night, brunch on Saturday, get everyone together, and really make it a weekend than just a Sunday,” said Waren.
And while the restaurant industry was among the hardest hit during the pandemic, Waren said they’ve been able to make revisions, and most are well prepared to make Mom’s Day special this year.
“For the most part things have worked themselves out and restaurants have adapted to the challenges that face our industry,” said Waren.
Waren said fine dining tends to be the most popular choice to celebrate Mom and if you haven’t made reservations, you’ll want to do so ASAP.
“Definitely call your mom’s favorite restaurant, not necessarily yours. You it as an opportunity to visit a new restaurant, visit an old favorite, and don’t limit yourself to just Sunday, look at the whole weekend,” said Waren.
