“Countering the criticism of his past job performance as Secretary of Transportation and also saying look he’s not part of the divisive politics, he wants to bring people together,” said Hogan.
Earlier this month the National Republican Governors Association launched an ad blaming Wilson for the state’s poor road conditions. Hogan said in Wilson’s 30-second spot the Democrat highlights his accomplishments at DOTD.
“And it helps counter some of the criticism that has been thrown his way by some of the negative advertising that’s out there already,” said Hogan.
The ad also expresses the Lafayette native’s desire to move the state forward. Hogan said Wilson’s calling to end political divisiveness is a common theme that voters say they want.
“And that may be viewed as an anecdote to the Landry campaign and Landry’s real penchant for focusing on divisive issues for the last several years,” said Hogan.
Polls indicate Wilson will most likely face front-runner Jeff Landry in a runoff.
