After a possible fentanyl exposure in the evidence room of the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office Monday morning, the department’s evidence supervisor remains hospitalized. Public Information Officer Mark Pierce said the supervisor, who was unable to talk, was found by two deputies.
“But while assisting him, or getting him out of the room, two other employees were exposed. Obviously, they had to get him out of there and all three were transported to the hospital. One still remains in the hospital,” said Pierce.
The two deputies are recovering at home.
Pierce said it was a frightening experience for everyone involved…
“The evidence supervisor himself was nonverbal at the point when he was located and they had to use Narcan in order to bring him to, and EMS picked him up shortly after that,” said Pierce.
State Police are leading the investigation into the incident. Pierce said they brought in a Hazmat Team Monday night after the office was closed.
“Appreciate the public’s continued prayer and to better your understanding of how dangerous some of these narcotics can be and they can pop up anywhere,” said Pierce.
Pierce said the evidence supervisor remains in the hospital as a precaution and is expected to recover.
