The Louisiana Department of Education has released the 2023 Louisiana Student Performance Scores and in spite of the unprecedented disruptions of the last two years, State Superintendent of Education, Dr. Cade Brumley is encouraged.
“We have two consecutive years of growth and we have actually exceeded our pre-pandemic numbers from 2019.”
Brumley says Louisiana students are gaining ground but we’re not there yet…
“That when only about a third of our students are fully mastering content, we still have work to do. We think that we need to make sure that we are being very prescriptive and understanding individual student needs.”
Brumley says we need quality teachers in every classroom, parental choice, and a return to the basics.
Improvements in scores surpassed the pre-pandemic numbers and Brumley recognized the highest performing districts in Louisiana…
“The number one system in the state for school performance is Zachary at a 97.1. Followed by West Feliciana, Ascension, DeSoto, Cameron, Lincoln, Central, Plaquemine, Vermillion, and Vernon.”
