“I don’t say never because I don’t know exactly what my situation’s going to be like with Donna and the family. I also don’t know what the situation’s going to be with the state,” said Edwards.
Edwards, a Democrat said he’s pulling for Republican Governor-elect Jeff Landry and hopes he does a good job. Edwards, along with his family and future grandchildren, will reside in Louisiana and he wants the state to continue to flourish.
“I really want him to be successful. As I leave here, I don’t leave intending to run again, whether it be for governor or something else, but at the same time I just don’t say never,” said Edwards.
First Lady Donna Edwards stood behind the governor as he took questions from the media and he joked when asked about running again, that he couldn’t see the expression on her face.
“Should my wife bless it (laughing from the crowd), should my wife bless it, and the circumstance warrant it, then I would do that,” said Edwards.
After the press conference, Edwards also told reporters at the request of Landry, that the chickens will remain at the mansion, and he plans to get new chickens when he returns to Amite.
