UL-Lafayette Softball head coach Gerry Glasco accepted an offer today to become the next head coach at Texas Tech. Host of the Locked-on Sun Belt Podcast Dave Schultz says he’s surprised Glasco is leaving.
“Knowing he’s got a loaded team coming back like they just lost two girls. They can add some depth to the circle and really make a run to Oklahoma City.”
Glasco finished his seventh season with a record of 302-88. With Glasco’s departure, it’s likely some players will test the transfer portal.
“I would presume in this day and age that some of the girls from the Cajuns will go with Gerry Glasco to Texas Tech. That would seem to be a no-brainer. Who goes and how many remains to be seen.”
UL-Lafayette starts the search for a head coach and Schultz says because of the success of the program…
“They should be going after their top dogs whoever that may be, and have them say “no” before they get lower on their list. They should go after their top people.”
While head coach, Glasco extended the Cajuns’ national-best Sun Belt series winning streak to 89 consecutive league series.
