State Police are investigating a fatal police shooting in Hammond on Saturday night. Authorities say a Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s deputy fatally shot 48-year-old Timothy Douglas of Ponchatoula during a foot pursuit. Trooper Marc Gremillion says the deputy was trying to apprehend Douglas who allegedly was driving a stolen vehicle…
“The deputy pursed and successfully deployed their taser ending the foot pursuit and while the deputy was attempting to place Douglas into custody a physical altercation ensued.
Gremillion says during the physical altercation, the deputy fired his weapon, striking Douglas…
“Douglas was transported to a local hospital where he eventually did succumb to his injury and at that time that is when the Sheriff’s Office called the Louisiana State Police out to investigate the shooting incident.”
Gremillion says the investigation remains active…
“As of right now its an ongoing investing between both agencies, and the Sheriff’s Department is being completely transparent and working with us.”
