Kenner Police arrest a Slidell woman in connection with the death of a Kansas City TV reporter in town covering the Super Bowl.
Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley says Danette Colbert, 48, was seen on surveillance video at a Comfort Suites hotel entering Adan Manzano’s room Wednesday morning.
“A short time later, the female left and she came back. And then by six a.m., she left and never returned,” says Chief Conley. “Mr. Manzano was not seen on that security footage after entering that room.”
Manzano, 27, was a reporter for KGKC-TV, Telemundo Kansas City.
“Adan was an exceptional professional and a rising star whose dedication and talent reflected excellence in his work,” Telemundo Kansas City said in a statement posted to its Facebook page. “We will deeply miss Adan, his passion for sports and the contributions he made to the local community.”
Chief Conley says the credit card that Manzano used to check into the hotel was missing from his wallet.
Investigators found it a short time later.
“A search warrant was executed at her residence, at which time Mr. Manzano’s credit card and cell phone
were located inside that residence,” Conley says.

Conley says Colbert is a career criminal who has done this type of thing before.
“Miss Colbert has quite a record and rap sheet for confidence gains, access device fraud and robbery schemes,” says Conley. “Miss Colbert’s criminal history does include two instances where she drugged a victim and stole his access device cards and things of that nature.”
So far, Colbert is only charged in connection with having Manzano’s credit card.
The investigation is ongoing, and those charges could be upgraded.
Manzano’s death comes nearly a year after his wife, Ashleigh LeeAnn Boyd, was killed in a car crash near Topeka, Kansas.
