University Lab two-way lineman Lamar Brown is set to announce his commitment at 12:15 p.m. Thursday. Zach Nagy of SI on LSU says the five-star is the number one-ranked athlete in the class of 2026.
“The Baton Rouge native plays his ball right there on LSU’s campus at University Lab. The number one athlete in America. A guy who shines on both sides of the ball in the trenches, was the number one interior offensive lineman,” Nagy said.
Brown is a top ten recruit according to most outlets and ESPN’s top overall prospect. Nagy says the Cub will have his pick of schools, but he’s narrowed down his list.
“LSU, Texas A&M, Miami, Florida State, etc. are really trying to get him in the mix. It’s a two-team race between LSU and A&M, but there’s a reason why he’s so highly touted. It is because of his strength and versatility,” Nagy explained.
Brown canceled his official visit to LSU following his trip to College Station. Nagy says he’s been a top priority for the Tigers’ staff, who currently have two D-line commits in the 2026 class.
“The guy is a Swiss Army knife in the trenches. He can do it all, man. 6’3″, 6’4″, 285-pounder, who can really utilize his strength and leverage to keep defenders back. He’s a super-talented player and he knows it,” Nagy said.
On3.com gives LSU an 86% chance to land the blue chip while 247Sports gives the nod to Texas A&M with a 75% chance.
