The A&E reality show “Live PD” is now filming in Lafayette. Airing Friday and Saturday nights, the show gives viewers a live look at real situations with police offers as they unfold. Lafayette Police Corporal Bridgette Dugas says the department is excited to be in the national spotlight.
“They want to try different demographics among law enforcement around the country, so of course, Lafayette is an area that is very popular so we were not surprised that we were chosen,” said Dugas.
Dugas says the production is extensive, bouncing between different cities as the action takes place live.
“We have two different cameramen that are with two different officers on the roadway, so you’ll have two different scenes going on at the same time where they are going between two officers,” said Dugas.
The show began filming with Lafayette PD this most recent weekend, despite the threat of Hurricane Barry. Dugas hopes the program will showcase the city in a positive light.
“You are able to see their interaction with the public and at the same time I know it’s going to show some bad things, but you’re also going to see the good things that our officers are doing on a daily basis,” said Dugas.
