As always, MPD encourages anyone with additional information to contact the Monroe Police Department at (318) 329-2600 or Crime Stoppers of North Delta at (318) 388-2274 (CASH).”
The Monroe Police Department is investigating a triple homicide. One of the victims was a two-year-old girl. Monroe Mayor Friday Ellis says they were gunned down in an overnight shooting on Grammont Street.
“A two-year-old child, who was defenseless, life was taken from them by people with evil intentions. We also had two other individuals who died with this. And I believe it really should be a moral wake-up call,” Ellis said.
The other two victims are adults.
Monroe Police Chief Vic Zordan says they are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the shooter.
“You’ve got a baby killer that’s running around on the loose right now. We’ve got some very good leads, by some fine detective work, that are leading us in the right direction. So I’m hopeful that we’ll have this special kind of criminal in jail very soon,” Zordan said.
Zordan is urging people not to take justice in their own hands as he’s concerned about retaliatory shootings.
Ellis says this violent event will not be tolerated.
“We have made so many strides, as far as crime reductions within the city, but this is a sobering wake-up call that there is just so much more work to be done,” Ellis said.
