Out of unspeakable tragedy comes some good. Governor Landry has announced that the Love One Louisiana Foundation, which is led by his wife Sharon, will be paying for the funerals of all eight children killed in Sunday morning’s mass shooting. In making the announcement in Shreveport, Governor Landry said he hopes the gesture will bring some comfort during a very trying time.
“No amount of money, or act of charity, can repair the pain. But what we can lean on is that this act of charity can stand as a beacon of faith and belief that good things still happen in this world,” Landry said.
The First Lady’s foundation also sprang into action following the terror attack on Bourbon Street early New Year’s Day last year. Landry says he’s thinking 0f everyone affected by Sunday’s tragedy, especially the two women who remain in critical condition after being during the rampage carried out by the father of seven of the eight children.
“We, of course, will continue to pray for the families who are left behind; the mothers who are currently fighting for their lives. But I will tell you that we know that God has placed upon us eight new angels that are now looking over the city of Shreveport,” Landry said.
In addition, the Community Foundation of North Louisiana has set up two funds. The CEO is Kristi Gustavson.
“The first is the April 19 Survivors Fund, to provide for the needs of the survivors. The second is the April 19 Memorial Fund, to prevent domestic violence.
