The Eastbank Little League World Champions are traveling back to New Orleans today and will have a welcoming celebration at the Shrine on Airline this afternoon. U.S. House Minority Whip and Louisiana Congressman Steve Scalise says the team is one the state can be proud of.
“The coach had them just really prepared and no pressure, though there were some pressured situations, but watching these kids made our community proud. It was something really fun to watch,” said Scalise.

President Trump has extended an invitation for the team to visit the White House following the 8-0 shutout in the championship game. Assistant coach Kevin Johnson says the victory hasn’t really sunk in and had an effect on the team yet.
“They’re still loose, goofy, they can go play today. They’re in the back of the bus messing around right now. A little tired, but same attitude, ready to roll, ready to get home,” said Johnson.
Johnson says the attitude was the key to success for the team.
“Our theme this year was PMA. Positive mental attitude, and that’s what they kept doing. They kept grinding, working hard, they were loose. They are just an amazing group of kids,” said Johnson.
