Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin will unveil new “I voted” stickers for the fall elections during a press conference at UL Lafayette Tuesday morning. The stickers first surfaced for the 2016 Presidential election and Ardoin says there’s been a huge demand for them to return.
“We heard the voters loud and clear so we are excited to be unveiling the new ‘I Voted’ stickers for the 2019 gubernatorial election,” said Ardoin.
The 2016 sticker had featured the Blue Dog made famous by artist George Rodrigue and was met with high demand, with many flipping the stickers on eBay. Ardoin expects similar enthusiasm.
“I think that everyone will be excited about the way the sticker looks, the painting that is an original that is created for this, so I’m very excited about it and I don’t want to spoil the secret just yet,” said Ardoin.
Ardoin says his office is footing the bill for the sticker and despite running out of the stickers in 2016, expects there will be enough for voters in both the October general and the November runoff election.
“A presidential election is usually about a 69% turnout and we’re not expecting quite that much, although I would love to have that turnout for the gubernatorial,” said Ardoin.
