LSU will be selling eight dollar domestic, nine dollar premium beers at Tiger Stadium this season in it’s first year selling alcohol to general seating.
Senior Associate Athletic Director Robert Munson says you won’t find folks hawking bud light up and down the aisles, but it should only be a short walk from your seat to the nearest vendor.
“It will be available at almost every concession stand. We have a number of stands in the student section that will not sell beer and wine. We’re going to continue to monitor foot traffic and sales throughout the season, so it could change a little bit.”
There’s a two purchase a person limit for each transaction, and IDs will be required for every transaction.
Rough estimates show as many as 45,000 beverages could be sold per game on average. Munson says he’s excited to offer the new options but hopes fans will have a little patience, because, “Tiger Stadium is unique and offers a number of challenges. It offers no cold storage, there’s no place to store recycling and trash. There’s all kinds of really really massive logistics that we have to walk through.”
All drinks must be poured out of their cans and into plastic cups by the server.
Offering a little booze might help keep the crowds from thinning out after LSU runs up a 30 point lead at halftime against Georgia Southern. Munson says just remember to be responsible.
“For those of our fans who are obviously responsibly drinking, being respectful to other fans, and just having fun, if that means people stay at the stadium long, then man that’s a great benefit.”
Beer and wine will be available for Saturday’s game against Georgia Southern.
