A Haughton man has been arrested on charges that he had sexual relations with juveniles and solicited minors over the internet the past several years.
45-year-old Saunders King Jr. was suspected in a similar case involving a pre-teen in 2016 but was ultimately not arrested. Bossier Sheriff’s spokesperson Bill Davis says that all changed recently.
“Another juvenile came to us here in August who was solicited by King via social media, and that then shed light to the other crime which we have tied them together.”
King faces Computer Solicitation of a Minor, 1st Degree Rape, Molestation of a Juvenile, and Felony Carnal Knowledge.
Davis says the office is glad the victim came forward, and it’s important that law enforcement create a welcoming environment for juvenile victims. He says their work with the Gingerbread House is a good example.
“It’s an incredible relationship we have to ensure that these investigations are done as professionally and properly as we can in order to put these bad guys behind bars.”
Davis says the case is an important reminder for parents to keep a close eye on their kid’s digital conversations. He says this case was cracked when one of the parents took an active role.
“The parent in one of these situations had looked at some of the cell phone records that their child was engaged in and that led to some red flags.”
