A statewide poll shows voters are for the most part undecided on who they’ll cast their ballot for Insurance Commissioner in October. Surprisingly, Republican Incumbent Jim Donelon polled with just 35% compared to his GOP challenger Tim Temple’s 20%. Pollster Bernie Pinsonat conducted the survey.
“The good news for Donelon is that Tim Temple remains unknown in Louisiana,” said Pinsonat.
45% of voters surveyed are undecided or would not say who they would vote on the October 12th ballot.
Donelon is seeking his fourth full term as Insurance Commissioner, while Temple is a native of DeRidder has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry.
“For Donelon is unique, because he hasn’t had a serious challenger in years and now he does,” said Pinsonat.
Pinsonat says Temple has to increase his name recognition and convince voters why he’s the better option.
“He’s going to spend a lot of money to get better known across Louisiana and convince people that Jim Donelon is not doing a good job, he’s not holding rates down and elect me and I’ll do a better job,” said Pinsonat.
The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4%.
