The final debate of the gubernatorial primary is in the books and the candidates spent the night at each other throats with two of them seeming to focus most of their fire on Congressman Abraham.
Governor Edwards continued blasting Abraham for his record of missed votes in the House. He says Abraham missed crucial votes on items like a flood insurance renewal and Homeland Security.
EDWARDS: “How can the people of Louisiana trust you to ever be their Governor?”
ABRAHAM: “Yea, I missed a vote but I know how important it is to unseat you from that seat, and I will miss a few more votes in order to do that.”
Abraham returned fire slamming the Governor over what he called a slow, setback riddled 2016 August Flood recovery. Edwards disputed that accusation.
EDWARDS: “It would have been helpful if you had turned up to work because I made a dozen trips to Washington D.C. and-“
ABRAHAM: “I was there, we gave you a billion dollars Governor, and you know that. Where is the money?”
Eddie Rispone continued hammering his fellow Republican Abraham over a campaign pledge made in Abraham’s initial run for office that he would donate his Congressional salary to charity.
RISPONE: “You gave your whole salary to charity since you’ve been elected? That’s what you’re saying?”
ABRAHAM: “Absolutely.”
RISPONE: “Why do you have a press release saying I couldn’t do that, I needed the money, and then turn around and buy an airplane?”
The primary is now less than three days away.
