Thousands of Donald Trump supporters are in Lake Charles for President Donald Trump’s Republican rally on Friday night. Trump is hoping to energize GOP voters so they vote for either Ralph Abraham or Eddie Rispone in Saturday’s election so that Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards does not win re-election without the need of a run-off. This man explains why he will not vote to re-elect the governor.
“I’m in Lafayette and Governor Edwards did nothing for our oil and gas industry,” said one Trump supporter.
Governor John Bel Edwards spoke with reporters in Lake Charles prior to the President’s arrival. Edwards says Louisiana’s economy is strong and growing.
“The latest GDP figures from the federal bureau of economic analysis from the Trump administration shows that Louisiana’s economy is not only the largest it’s ever been, it’s also growing at the 10th fastest rate in the nation,” said Edwards.
A woman spending the afternoon outside of the Sudduth Coliseum where Trump speaks on Friday night believes the President’s visit will energize Republican voters.
“Republicans who voted for John Bel Edwards voted for Trump and if Trump is able to make the case to vote for them (Ralph Abraham or Eddie Rispone) I think they will.”
Edwards says not only is the state’s economy growing, but personal income is up, more jobs are on the way and investments have been made to improve our roads.
“I ask the people of Louisiana this, are we better off today than four years ago and the answer is yes,” said Edwards.
