State Police arrest 34-year-old Jessie Joseph III of Raceland for the man’s tenth DWI arrest. Senior Trooper Jesse LaGrange says Joseph was clocked going 89 in a 70 mph zone.
“That’s what got the trooper’s attention and of course conducted a traffic stop. Then, he’d realized the driver had been drinking, was impaired, and then conducted a field sobriety test, in which he was arrested at that time,” said LaGrange.
LaGrange says when an impaired driver puts the safety of others at risk, it’s a situation that is not taken lightly.
“DWI arrests will stay on your criminal record for ten years and that affects your driving history and whether or not you have a driver’s license. Of course, he didn’t at this time, so he was driving under suspension, so he was charged with that also,” said LaGrange.
LaGrange says a third DWI offense and every subsequent offense is considered a felony charge.
“We’re hoping that the prison sentence will be higher to set an example and to keep him off the road,” said LaGrange.
Joseph faces up to thirty years in jail.
