Saints Quarterback Drew Brees says the plan is for him to suit up and play Sunday in the Dome against the Cardinals, potentially his first game action since injuring his hand against the Rams week two. The QB says he’ll track his progress in practice this week, but if he feels ready, Sean Payton will play him. Brees says he will have to wear a brace to protect his surgically repaired hand.
“It’s not fully healed I think until three months so that internal brace obviously provides some stability and support,” said Brees.
Payton says it will be a game-time decision on whether Brees will play.
The Saints are 5-0 with Teddy Bridgewater as their starting quarterback. But Brees says not playing on Sundays is killing him and the recovery process has not been easy. But the future Hall of Famer has found unconventional ways to help him stay game ready.
“You start with getting the range of motion and then its I can’t grip an NFL ball yet, but I can grip a nerf ball, so I was raiding my kids basket of balls,” said Brees.
The Saints take on Arizona at noon on Sunday.
