Saturday is the final day of early voting. Prior to the final two days of the early voting period, Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin says more than 300,000 ballots have been cast for the runoff races thus far.
“It is a robust turnout compared to last time. I think we are going to hit the highest we have ever hit in early voting.”
The primaries saw 354,000 votes cast in the early voting period. Ardoin expects the total for the early runoff voting to be around 400,000. Ardoin believes the early voting trend will continue to grow.
“We believe that this is just the beginning with regards to people utilizing early voting as a convenience as opposed to Election Day.”
Make sure to bring a photo ID when you head to the polls. Ardoin says the voting process is much faster than in the primaries due to a shorter ballot.
“With the new voting machines that we secured for early voting. People are having a much more positive and easy experience, so the lines are moving very quickly.”
Election Day is November 16th.
