Former LSU band members have formed an alumni group known as the Four Notes Club, aimed at supporting the university’s marching band. Executive Board President Timothy Rodrigue says the Tiger band has never had a philanthropic organization dedicated to raising funds specifically for the band.
“As we look at emulating models similar to those that other SEC schools have, and other universities have for their bands we just didn’t understand why this was not in place for LSU.”
Rodrigue says the group hopes to provide scholarships for band members, including the Colorguard and Golden Girls.
“We are also raising discretionary funds for Tiger band to pay for things such as uniforms, instruments, instrument repair and other things that they would need.”
Rodrigue says unlike some alumni groups, the ability to join will not be limited to just alumni and membership dues are set at a reasonable rate.
“The way that we opened up the club for this year was we could have anyone join for $18.93 and that is an obvious callback to the fact that Tiger band was established in 1893.”
