A Calhoun man is in jail accused of holding his girlfriend captive for days and beating her multiple times at various locations. Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s spokesperson Glen Springfield says the harrowing episode ended when witnesses called authorities after seeing 22-year-old Michael Vaughn taking the victim by the hair…
“When deputies arrived they located her, the victim appeared to be pretty severely injured. She had bruising to her shoulder, broken tooth, severe bruising and swelling to the forehead area, and bruising to her chest and abdomen.”
Springfield says the victim claims multiple attacks took place over two days later when she was attacked at their home with a closed fist and a baseball bat.
“Also strangled her to the point where she almost passed out. After that, he accused her of having a cell phone that he didn’t know about. They went next door stole a vehicle and went to an address on Dana Rd. thinking that is where the phone was.”
Springfield says if it wasn’t for the quick response of witnesses calling authorities, this situation could have seen a different conclusion.
“The young lady was very fortunate that people observed what was going on and were able to get a hold of us or it could have ended a lot worse, but it was certainly bad enough as it was.”
Vaughn was already on probation and now faces four felonies.
