Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s investigators have arrested a father and son duo for the New Year’s Eve robbery and murder of 82-year-old Robert James of Gretna. The victim was taking out the trash at the Terrytown bar he worked at when the robbery occurred. Sheriff Joe Lopinto says media coverage helped to get tips.
“It lead us to two individuals by the name of Ricky Lincoln Sr. and Ricky Lincoln Jr., father and son, also from Terrytown, Louisiana, as potential persons of interest,” said Lopinto.
Lopinto says the two were taken into custody and are now at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center.
“They both admitted to their involvement in the crime, including the murder and then simple robbery of Mr. James. We were able to recover the cellphone by their admission and where they had actually disposed of that cellphone,” said Lopinto.
Lopinto was grateful for the public’s help in identifying the two.
“Thank you for the information that you provided, not only to the Sheriff’s Office, but through our Crimestoppers. If anybody ever has any information, they can always reach us and our detective bureau,” said Lopinto.
The suspects were identified through surveillance footage and now face charges of second-degree murder, simple robbery, and obstruction of justice.
