Troopers locate and identify the driver involved in a fatal hit and run of a bicyclist on Thursday morning just south of Alexandria. Trooper Casey Wallace says the 27-year-old Lacey Jade Jordan of Oakdale was behind the wheel of the southbound Chevy Silverado that hit a 50-year-old Taurus McQuarn of Alexandria on US Highway 165.
“Off the impact, he was ejected off the bicycle into the ditch and that’s where he became deceased,” said Wallace.
Wallace says Jordan has not been charged yet as the investigation continues into the intricate details of the crash.
“It was just a very complicated scene at the time. I think there is a lot of damage to the bicycle, to try to pull some information off of it, along with the driver, and actually with her as well,” said Wallace.
Routine toxicology tests are pending. Wallace says the crash is a reminder for cyclists to take measures to protect themselves.
“Don’t assume that a vehicle sees you. It’s a tragic event. You know reflectors, bright clothing, anything that would make you more visible is always key,” said Wallace.
