Former Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal was in attendance at the Inauguration Day event in Baton Rouge. In recent years, Jindal has transitioned away from public service and is now working in the private sector and says more elected officials should try it.
“I believe in term limits. I believe that the people who serve us in public office should have to go work in the private sector. I think you’d have more common sense in our laws if we don’t have folks that are just permanent politicians, permanently in office,” said Jindal.
With the exception of a few name drops in last year’s Governor’s race, Jindal has kept a low profile since a run at the Republican nomination for President in the 2016 race. Jindal believes, for the most part, the country has many good things going for it in DC.
“I just wish we had less partisanship and less fighting in DC, but from an energy perspective and from the economy and from conservative judges, I think those are all positive for our country. I just wish in DC they would remember they are Americans first. Not Republicans, not Democrats, but Americans first,” said Jindal.
Jindal is still living in Baton Rouge, working in the energy and healthcare fields, but when it comes to the possibility of hopping back into politics, he says never say never.
“I loved the years of public service I was able to give. It was a privilege and an honor to be able to do something for my state. If God calls me to do that again in the future, I’m open to it, but for right now, I’m really enjoying spending time with my family and investing the time in my kids,” said Jindal.
