LSU’s Pennington Biomedical Research Center is studying lifestyle changes as a result of the COVID-19 restrictions. Researcher Leanne Redman says they are encouraging the public to take their 15-minute online survey that asks participants about work changes, physical activity, diet, sleep, and well-being.
“Have we changed our physical activity behaviors because now we can’t go to the gym or maybe we are doing more exercise because we are spending more time at home, less time in the car commuting and more time in our neighborhoods in general,” said Redman.
Redman says the goal is to get one million responses to the survey and so far they’ve received 6,000 from participants from all over the world.
“We had people from the United States, from Canada, the United Kingdom. Various countries in Europe including Sweden, Norway, and Germany,” said Redman.
Redman hopes the survey will be able to hone in on some of the nuances of the social distancing and stay at home orders that maybe have not been realized before.
“Maybe people can be more productive working at home, maybe people are eating better because they are working from home, maybe people are exercising more because they are working at home,” said Redman.
Redman says anyone over the age of 18 can participate in the survey, just go to pbrc.edu/covid19andyou.
