Senator John Kennedy was a guest on the Moon Griffon show Tuesday and asked about President Trump’s election challenge. The state’s senior Senator, also a Republican, Bill Cassidy has already called for the transition to begin for President-Elect Biden. Kennedy however said Trump has the right to express his opinion about the election.
“President Trump has every right to go to court and challenge the results of the election. In America when we disagree with elections, we don’t effectuate coups in the streets, we go to court,” said Kennedy.
Kennedy said the election is not final until all the court cases are concluded.
“We’ve always had an election day, this time we had an election month, and they’re still counting votes, and there were mailed ballots flying around like confetti,” said Kennedy.
Kennedy says with large amounts of mail-in ballots this election, created problems for some states.
“Once the election is concluded, and it won’t be concluded until the courts have decided, I’ll congratulate the winner, but I’m not going to do that until then, “said Kennedy.
