The Louisiana Department of Education says 2,646 of its teachers and principals have participated in workshops to help provide better virtual instruction to students.
“Teachers would learn different strategies for how to really engage students online and leaders would tune in to learn about how they can support teachers,” said Dr. Jenna Chaisson, who is the Assistant Superintendent of Training and Learning.
Chaisson says the department has offered two series of workshops, a three-part online training series and the other is a series of webinars to enhance a teacher’s digital learning skills with help from Google.
Chaisson said while the pandemic and hurricanes have presented challenges this year, Louisiana teachers continue to provide high-quality virtual instruction.
“The educators of Louisiana have proven that they are just truly determined to do whatever it takes to educate students,” said Chaisson.
