2020 is a forgettable year for many, but Saints running back Alvin Kamara will never forget Christmas Day in 2020 as he tied a 91-year-old NFL record by rushing for six touchdowns in a 52-33 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Kamara gives credit to the offensive line and wide receivers who blocked so well for him.
“It just feels good to have one of those days, just for the team, you know for offense morale,” said Kamara.”I am not focused on personal goals and yards and stuff like that as long as the team has success than personal success will come.”
His sixth touchdown came after a long pass play to Adam Trautman that got the ball near the goal line again for Kamara to get in the end zone.
“In the back of my mind, I’m like alright this might be my chance, and Sean (Payton) was like go, so I just told the o-line, get me in there and let’s get it and we were able to get it. We had the celebration planned out. It’s a great moment and I wouldn’t want to do it with another group.”
The Saints celebrated Kamara’s sixth touchdown by performing snow angels in the end zone.
Kamara rushed for 155 yards on 22 carries, while Quarterback Drew Brees threw for 311 yards as he becomes the first NFL quarterback to pass for 80,000 career yards.
And the Saints won their fourth straight NFC South title. But New Orleans has reportedly lost linebacker Kwon Alexander for the season with a torn A-C-L.
The regular season concludes next Sunday at Carolina.
