The Saints finished off a 12-4 regular season with a 33-7 win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. New Orleans is the two seed in the NFC playoffs and will host Chicago this Sunday. Saints Safety Malcolm Jenkins has won two Super Bowls and knows how to approach postseason football.
“Everything is same whether it’s the preseason or its the postseason, the only thing that changes are the circumstances around the game, and so for us we just need to focus on our jobs, having fun, executing like we do any other game and not make it any bigger than it is,” said Jenkins.
Since the Saints will host Chicago on Sunday, it increases the chances that running back Alvin Kamara can play after testing positive for COVID-19 on New Year’s Day. Jenkins says the team understands the importance of avoiding a COVID outbreak now that the postseason has arrived.
“We understand that in a pandemic some things happen, but we are trying our best to make sure that we limit our amount of exposure we have, because we have what we want right in front of us, because we can’t afford to miss guys as we move forward in the playoffs,” said Jenkins.
This could be Quarterback Drew Brees’ last chance at a second Super Bowl ring. Brees says his focus is on beating the Bears.
“We know that in order to play our best in order to achieve the goals that we want to achieve,” said Payton. “We got to have the same approach each and every week, with our preparation and our work habits in everything we do, we just don’t show up and play.”
