After two winter storms this week, forecasters say it appears the worst is behind us. However, State Climatologist Barry Keim said there’s still some lingering mixed precipitation Thursday morning in north Louisiana. Keim said things aren’t necessarily going to warm up either.
“Highs will be more like 30s to the north and 40s to the south. And tomorrow morning we’re going to have teens in northern parishes, 20s in central Louisiana, 30s along the coast with high temperatures on Friday only in the 30s and 40s,” said Keim.
Keim said the forecast Saturday is very similar to Friday with highs reaching into the 40s and 50s.
After this morning Keim said we shouldn’t see any rain over the next few days…
“Probably not at least until Sunday, but it’s still going to be very, very cold. We’re still in winter so keep the winter gear out but you can finally put away, after this afternoon, put away the umbrellas and just brace yourself for the cold weather,” said Keim.
Keim said these winter storms will go down as some of the worst we’ve experienced, especially because it’s so widespread.
“Texas got hammered, Oklahoma has been hammered and this is going to continue across parts of the southeast and eventually this system is going to work its way up the east coast as a Nor’easter. So, it’s one of those storms that just keeps on giving,” said Keim.
