Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry is heading up a 13 state lawsuit aimed at overturning the Biden Administration’s moratorium on new oil and gas lease sales on federal lands and waters.
Landry said the Administration’s energy policy is a reckless abuse of Presidential power that picks winners and losers.
“So it is ok for drilling to occur on Native American lands but it is not ok for Americans to be able to drill on federal lands?” asked Landry.
Other Republican and industry leaders spoke at the press conference as well. Erath Representative Blake Miguez said the moratorium will stymie flood protection projects.
“The cancellation of the lease 257 and the suspension of the sale 259 and 261 will reduce Louisiana’s GOMESA funding by up to 17 million dollars,” said Miguez who adds estimates show 48,000 gulf coast oil and gas industry jobs will be lost by 2022 should this policy remain in place.
The Biden Administration says reducing American carbon extraction is key to limiting the catastrophic levels of global warming.
