Senator Bill Cassidy said news of the revised CDC guidelines that fully vaccinated individuals no longer need to wear face masks or socially distance is long overdue. Cassidy voiced his frustration publicly at a hearing in DC this week and the physician believes the federal agency is behind the curve.
“And the CDC always says they are talking about science and I just made the point, I’m a doctor, I know the science too, and I hold up articles and I think you are way too slow to change and by the way so do most Americans,” said Cassidy.
Cassidy said when various studies show that fully vaccinated individuals are unable to transmit the virus to others it is past due to change recommendations and he does not understand the CDC’s delay.
“I don’t know they’re just incredibly cautious, but I told them, they’re losing credibility with the American people,” said Cassidy.
Cassidy said this is another valid reason for individuals to get fully vaccinated. He said this should be a relief for parents who are now able to now have their teenagers vaccinated and no longer worry if they are masked or not.
“You can now go to a bar and listen to some music, have some food in a restaurant and not worry about having to wear a mask in and out. I sure hope people, for one more reason, I hope people get vaccinated,” said Cassidy.
The state department of health said approximately 30-percent of Louisianans are fully vaccinated.
