A movie first set to be filmed in New Orleans, but Hurricane Ida has forced its relocation to Shreveport. Sony Line Producer, Wendy Williams, says “Heart of a Lion” follows the life of boxer George Foreman.
“It takes place in George’s life from the time he’s 11 until he’s 45,” said Williams.
She says that will cover a period from the late 1950s to the mid-80s.
Williams says even though Ida chased the production out of the Big Easy, she says they’ve wound up in the right place when it comes to creative talent and architecture needed for “Heart of a Lion.”
“The architecture is unlike anywhere else, and for a movie like ours it’s entirely set in a set period, we’ve ended up, we may have been running from the storm but we kind of ended up in exactly the right place”
Williams says filming will begin in November at many locations around the greater Shreveport area.
Khris Davis, of “Detroit” and “Judas and the Black Messiah” fame, will reportedly play George Foreman.
Williams says they also need 1,500 extras and Sony expects to spend five million dollars that will benefit the local economy.
“When we are building sets, everything from lumber, food, rental cars, hotels, location fees, because we are going to be shooting in a number of homes in the area,” said Williams.
