In honor of their 50th anniversary, Louisiana staple Tony Chachere’s is introducing new Cajun chili mixes. Director of Marketing Celeste Chachere said when they were brainstorming for new product ideas, they pulled from one of her great-grandfather’s favorite chili recipes.
“You know what would be really cool is a tribute to that recipe that we all eat and love to make for ourselves. If we could kind of repackage this for the home cook and a little bit of that magic in a two-and-a-half-ounce box,” said Chachere.
The recipe is called “Tony’s He-Man Chili” and Chachere said it’s bold, hearty, and filling.
There are two versions of the chili seasonings, mild and original. Chachere said they definitely have a little personality in them and are created with fresh herbs and spices.
“Some veggies in there, you’ve got your garlic, you’ve got your onion and we’ve added a smokey bacon ham flavor that is a callback to Tony’s recipe when he used to call for a hot smoked sausage,” said Chachere.
Chachere said the mixes are affordable at just under two dollars and are designed to be used with two pounds of ground beef or venison; enough to feed a whole family.
“We don’t put our names on anything we don’t really truly believe in and love. And it was a smash hit, no-brainer around our test kitchen so we just thought you know what we really have a good feeling about this one,” said Chachere.
The new chili mixes are currently rolling out to grocery stores, and you can also find them at TonyChachere.com.
