As President Biden preps for his State of the Union Address, US Senator Bill Cassidy said he believes it will be clear in tonight’s speech, that the Biden Administration is not alleviating the pains impacting Americans, specifically record inflation that’s crushing the middle class.
“Democrats refuse to empower states like Louisiana and our workers to produce American energy and lower prices at the gas pump,” said Cassidy.
Cassidy said in the first year of Biden’s presidency, America’s economy has suffered greatly with inflation at a 40 year high. As energy prices continue to increase, Cassidy said it began with the closure of the Keystone XL pipeline.
“Natural gas permitting, and new offshore leasing have been blocked and President Biden has nominated someone to the Federal Reserve who has said effectively she wants to kill the oil and gas industry,” said Cassidy.
Cassidy referred to Lisa Cook, the first Black woman to be nominated to the Federal Reserve.
Cassidy also believes the best way to address Russia, as they invade Ukraine, is through a tough energy policy. He said Putin’s aggression is causing the west to consider moving away from Russian energy.
“But America must be at the forefront leading the world and creating this Russia-free energy future,” said Cassidy.
The State of the Union will air at 8 pm tonight.
