The New Orleans Pelicans have evened their NBA playoff series with the Phoenix Suns at one game apiece. Brandon Ingram was stellar last night, posting a near triple-double with 37 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists. Prior to the season, B.I. promised the Pelicans would not miss the playoffs this year, and he has delivered all year.
“I feel like it’s our time,” said Ingram. “It’s our time to continue to get better. We have a really good group of guys that want to get better. So, to be on this stage and continue to have success is great for us.”
Ingram has been historically good so far with 55 points, 16 rebounds, and 13 assists in his first two playoff games, second only to Oscar Robertson in playoff history. Larry Nance Jr. says Ingram is the real deal, and the Pels will go as far as he can take them.
“B.I. is him,” Nance said. “He’s that guy. I just want to make sure that he knows that this whole team is rocking with him. Missed shot, made shot, turnover, good pass, bad pass…I don’t care. I’m rocking with him.”
The Pelicans will return home to the Smoothie King Center on Friday night for Game 3. CJ McCollum played for the Trail Blazers in 2018 when the Pelicans swept Portland in dominating fashion, and he’s glad that this time he’ll be wearing the home colors.
“I already know,” McCollum said of the atmosphere at the SKC. “I know what type of time they be on when we go back home. So, I’m looking forward to not being in enemy territory and actually hearing cheers when we shoot and pass and do nice things.”
The Suns may be without guard Devin Booker who sat out most of the second half with an injured right hamstring. Booker scored 31 points in the first half of Game Two.
Game time is set for 8:30 pm.
