According to WalletHub Louisiana is ranked fourth in the nation as the best state for a summer road trip. WalletHub analyst Jill Gonzales said the ranking looked at the most fun, scenic, and wallet-friendly road trip destinations.
“That ranges from the number of attractions to road conditions to costs, especially with gas going up, and looking at all of that Louisiana is a top-five state for road trip destinations,” said Gonzales.
Gonzales said when it comes to cost the Bayou State ranked second in the nation on road trips.
“Everything from low prices of hotel rooms, to camping, to vacation rentals and it makes sense that gas prices are cheaper in Louisiana than most other states right now,” said Gonzales.
She said one way to save money on road trips is the use an app like GasBuddy to find the best price on gas and to also book your hotels directly through a chain’s website or app.
And WalletHub said Louisiana ranked first in the nation in their summer road trip survey when it comes to driving laws. Gonzales said when it comes to driving laws Louisiana is a bit on the strict side.
“Especially when it comes to like speeding or distracted driving, things like that. So that we see this as a plus here. We want people to be alert on the road, we want people to feel safe as they are driving through a state,” said Gonzales.
She also noted that Louisiana however did not rank well when it comes to the quality of roads and bridges
New York topped the list followed by Minnesota and Texas.
