Republican Lafayette prosecutor Holden Hoggatt has qualified to run against Congressman Clay Higgins. Hoggatt said he felt the need to run for office because he said Higgins has failed to help the third congressional district after Hurricanes Laura and Delta devastated southwest Louisiana.
“It’s more important than ever to have someone who will go fight and be effective and competent in DC. And that involves going to speak to whoever you need to so that our people get the relief that they need,” said Hoggatt.
Hoggatt said Higgins has never run against a proper, well-funded Republican and claims Higgins’s first win was a fluke. Hoggatt believes he’s the candidate to represent the district and help those who are still suffering from the 2020 hurricanes.
“A lot of people think that this is Clay’s race to lose, but after reviewing the data, with teams of professionals, the best Republican consulting firm in the country, it turns out it’s actually my race to lose,” said Hoggatt.
Hoggatt said he’s the candidate best suited for the conservative district and that Higgins’s extremist views are not reflective whatsoever of the people he’s supposed to represent.
“Good Americans are tired of the drunken Facebook videos where he’s slurring drunk, and he does that in lieu of any sort of policy accomplishments. He’s done nothing for south Louisiana,” said Hoggatt.
After the first day of qualifying Lane Payne Jr. and Jack Shaheen are also candidates for the Third Congressional District.
