The state supreme court’s rejection to hear an appeal challenging the ban on abortion in Louisiana forces the closure of the three remaining clinics. Director of the Hope Medical Center for Women in Shreveport Kathaleen Pittman said she’s not sure what’s next for her clinic.
“I absolutely have no idea where this path will take us, but we are determined that we’re not done,” said Pittman.
During the uncertainty of the last eight weeks, Pittman said she has received support from the community, and it’s much appreciated.
“I would like to tell them that we know who you are, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts, and we may be down but we’re not out,” said Pittman.
Even though the doors of the Hope Medical Center have closed, Pittman said she’ll continue to provide services for women even though she’s not sure where that will be just yet and she remains inspired.
“And we’re hoping to channel that support into a GoFundMe in our efforts to find a new location,” said Pittman.
