Senator Bill Cassidy (R) - Louisiana
Louisiana Republican U-S Senator Bill Cassidy announces that 46 million dollars in federal money are heading to Cameron, Calcasieu, and Vermilion Parishes to elevate about 200 structures so they will not flood. Cassidy says it’s great news for southwest Louisiana.
“So that homes don’t have to leave so that businesses are still there so that communities are intact,” Cassidy said.
Cassidy says the money is coming from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill.
“I like that because that was the reason I got involved, to make sure that we in Louisiana got enough to meet our needs. And the very best news, there’s more to come,” He added.
Cassidy says Louisiana has received 700 million dollars in funding for coastal, waterway, and flood protection projects from the Infrastructure Bill signed by President Joe Biden in 2021.
Cassidy was the only Republican member of Congress from Louisiana who supported the infrastructure bill.
