The Saints are in Arizona Thursday night to face the Cardinals in a match-up of two teams with identical records at 2-4.
The Black and Gold only had a few days to prepare for this game as coach Dennis Allen says practices this week have been mostly walk-throughs.
“That’s the nature of the business when you play a Thursday night game it’s tough for guys to get themselves ready to play on a short turnaround like that. So the biggest thing is just being mentally prepared,” said Allen.
The Saints have ruled out the following players for tonight’s game, wide receivers Jarvis Landry and Michael Thomas, plus tight end Adam Trautman, offensive guard Andrus Peat, and cornerback Marshon Lattimore.
Andy Dalton is expected to make his fourth straight start as Jameis Winston is still not fully healthy from back and ankle injuries. Dalton has also been dealing with a back injury, but the veteran says he’s ready to go.
“You have to do everything in a couple of days rather than having the full week to get it done. I think that’s the biggest thing the preparation making sure we’re on top of everything and ready to go,” said Dalton.
Saints defensive end Cam Jordan says they can’t use a short week as an excuse for not playing well.
“We don’t have time to worry about what we do and don’t have we’ve got to be able to get the bodies back, we just had a game Sunday. Some guys I know are sore today and then we’re going to go be in a full game where its going to take all of 60 minutes to try and get a win,” said Jordan.
